The Mexican is a Mexican restaurant and cocktail bar based in Ware in Hertfordshire, opened 2019. Co-owned and run by Mexicans, we bring authentic Mexican street food to your table in a fun, relaxed environment.

Authentically Mexican
The Mexican was born out of a love for Mexican food and culture. Co-owners Alastair Bramley and Brett Cahill-Moreno, put a lot of emphasis in the menu being fresh, unique, vibrant, diverse, colourful and, most importantly, authentically Mexican.

A Dream Worth Waiting For
Co-owner Brett Cahill-Moreno’s family is from Yucatan in Mexico, which is one of the gastronomic capitals of Mexico. He comes from a long line of cooks, including his grandmother who ran her own restaurant and wrote a cookbook before her death in 2006. Many of the dishes on the menu are inspired from her recipes.
Having trained as a chef, Brett has had a life-long dream to open an authentic Mexican restaurant. Teaming-up with Alastair has made that dream a reality.

Alastair has been running restaurants and bars in Hertford & Ware for over 25 years and has a passion for delivering fine cuisine in beautifully designed restaurants.
Alastair’s knowledge of the food and beverage industry and his eye for interior design has helped make this the perfect partnership and The Mexican a must-visit venue on Ware High Street.
